Today we get to celebrate a milestone in my blogging “career”! But first, let’s talk about where we’ve come from. Blogs sound like a really cool idea when you’re starting one. You get to write fun stuff and people read the fun stuff you’re writing and then you get virtual-famous. So rad. That, of course, is mostly in theory. I remember when I first launched this website. Interestingly, the response wasn’t 100% in favor of this new development. I actually had some people very upset with me for doing it. “Who does he think he is making a website? What makes him think he’s an expert on anything? And what is an international man of mystery, anyway???” haha it was cute! Mostly because of the reasons I started doing this in the first place.
The real reason I started this blog is this: I had to.
I got clear instructions from My Boss to start writing about my journey and putting my life out there for everyone to see in hopes that it might impact even one person along the way. The truth is (brace yourself), I don’t even really like social media. I like what you can do with it, but I don’t like it. If I had it my way I’d rather be conversing with real humans on a secluded mountain top. Or wrestling an alligator. Or reading many leather-bound books while drinking tea. Or going fishing. What you may not know is that every blog post I write comes from a real place in my heart. Most times it’s a hard lesson that I’m still struggling through, or me working through my times of doubt out-loud (well, on a screen anyway), or something like that.
Today we get to celebrate the fact that last week this blog reached over 10,000 views! And I don’t say that to impress you at all. I say that to encourage you and challenge you to do what God is asking you to do. Just be obedient. I have no idea what will be the real impact of putting my life on display, and I may never know that until I reach the other side and meet My Boss face-to-face. What I do know is that I’m going to continue to be about the Father’s business and I’ll stop when He tells me to.
Thank you to everyone who has been with me along the journey thus far. Let’s keep our feet moving and see where this path goes!
