Solomon Davies is back with another timely guest article on the blog. Thank you, brother, for contributing:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ~ Ephesians 2:10
The enemy who comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10), is busier than ever destroying dreams. He is deceiving many of us to focus on our own plans instead of God’s plans, getting us to prioritize our own agenda’s instead of God’s agenda, and to pursue our own dreams instead of God’s dreams. Jesus said it best in Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.I have often said God has a dream; God dreams of the day the world comes to know His Son Jesus Christ. God is on a mission to save those that are lost (Luke 19:10). His desire being that no one should perish. Max Lucado says it this way, “God’s dream isn’t just to get you into heaven, but to get heaven into you.” Think about this amazing news for a second, God wants to have a personal beautiful relationship with us; He wants to partner with us in changing the world. We have brothers and sisters out there in the world that still don’t know Jesus. Before God created you, He purposely had you in mind and prepared good works in advance for us to do for Him, but many of us have become so occupied and busy with our own dreams and agenda’s.
I love this quote by Steven Furtick: “Most believers aren’t in imminent danger of ruining their lives. They’re facing a danger that’s far greater: wasting them.” There are many believers out there who aren’t just ruining their lives but wasting it. There are many who have gone before us, who lived a life being about their dreams and agenda’s and it ended up being a wasted life because God’s dream was secondary in their lives. The graveyard is the richest place on the surface of the earth…There you find many people who died without allowing God to fulfill what He had dreamt for their lives for His glory.
Now up to this point, you might have a question and you’re asking God a similar question Gideon asked (Judges 6:13-14). Lord if you really have dreams and plans for my life… fill in the blank ____________________? Why are all these things happening to me? Where are all the wonders or promises we have read and heard about? It’s ok to ask questions, but be patient and listen carefully after you do…. You’ll hear God’s still small voice answering your question with a question “Am I not sending you? …To discover God’s dream and purposes, we have to live a life full of faith….Ask yourself what God may be sending you to do right now for Him. It might be to spend more time with Him in prayer and studying His word, It might be to step out in faith to the adventure He has placed in your heart for Him. I love what my Pastor said in a recent sermon, “Faith is our grip on God, and Grace is God’s grip on us” ~ Brian Warren.
And without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
