In Faithfulness

This year God has really been impressing upon my heart the power of focus, concentration, and consistency. Now again, this week during my morning times in His presence it’s been the same theme. This is a clip from what I’ve been reading:

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold… In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on the earth.” ~ Isaiah 42:1,3-4

I don’t think lasting change in the world happens in huge movements (though they might be an expression of change) as much as it happens in consistent movement in the same direction. It says that “in faithfulness he will bring forth justice…” It happens day by day in the seemingly small decisions. It happens when you serve your wife by secretly cleaning the bathroom at home. It happens when you smile and say hi to a person on the street who is homeless. You change the world by changing your world.

Be consistent. Live your entire life in one direction. That’s where impact happens. And maybe the most important piece of the whole process is the impact that this faithfulness has on your own character… Food for thought.

As I write this, I’m convicted of the fact that I haven’t yet been faithful in writing a weekly blog like I had planned. I’ve tried to commit to it a couple times with no success. As the above scripture says, I can’t afford to “falter or be discouraged” even when I have no idea if my posts are making a difference at all. So here we go: I will write one every Wednesday until the end of the year barring some extreme cataclysmic event. If you don’t see a blog entry from me, follow up and find out if I’m ok…

I am learning that consistency is a way to live out your faith and express love. People respond to consistency because with it coincides with trust. Great blog, Justin!
