I really don’t want you to feel like I’m the proverbial ‘manimal who cried wolf’, but you’re going to want to stick around for this announcement for sure. If you can believe it, I actually have some even bigger news for you than the revelation of which super-swagerrific suit I’d be wearing to the Souls of the Feet World Tour Gala. Hard to believe, I know. I’ll try my best not to build up to it too much. If the anticipation didn’t get to you last time, you may still be close to the edge and at risk for going over due the sheer suspense and expectancy. Haha ok I’ll stop, I probably enjoy this way too much.
Well, ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between…. Last week I took Natalie, my sweet African Queen from California, to the mountains in Alberta. The sights were both breathtaking and humbling. To think that there’s a God big enough to demolish those spectacular mounds of rock with His pinky finger if He wanted to… We glided our way up the winding roads with the Subaru and found our way to the base of one particular mountain. The options for getting to the top of this mountain included either walking or taking a gondola. Since I didn’t want to have to beat up a mountain lion again and because we were on a tight schedule I opted in for the gondola option ;)
Now for those of you who know anything about gondolas, you know that they can be quite squishy. So somewhere near the climax of the voyage, due to the lack of space in the gondola, I decided to get down on one knee to make adequate room for my Queen to enjoy the view. From there, I said a bunch of nice words (most of which I can’t remember now because of the intensity of the moment); words which included the ideas that I don’t want to do life without her and that she is the one who I want by my side to run the race that God has marked out for us, among other hopefully-romantic things. And I asked her to be my wife…. After sitting there with her mouth open in shock for what felt like an eternity, Natalie said YES!!!
There are no words to describe the feeling that comes with making this powerful step in the direction of destiny. Aside from the day Jesus saved my life and brought me into His Kingdom, this was the best day of my life so far. I say ‘so far’ because, God-willing, I still have the honor of marrying this beautiful and incredible woman of virtue and experiencing so many more of life’s challenges and joys with her. “When a man finds a wife, he finds a GOOD thing.” I get it now. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to walk towards God’s purpose for us in this union.
If I didn’t get the chance to contact you directly before you saw this announcement on social media and that offends you, please don’t take it personally. I probably love you a lot and it probably slipped through one of the many cracks of my hilarious and adventurous life. So don’t pout, call me and let’s celebrate!!!
